Alignment works a lot like in SMT I, II, and IV. Depending on answers and choices made you lean towards Law, Chaos, or stay Neutral. The various characters also have alignments, with some of the lords leaving the party to fight on the other side if you go one way, etc.

For example, Micaiah might find the idea of the Chaos world - a world where everyone starts off on equal footing - appealing vs. the idea of returning Tellius to 100% the way it was, what with all the racism and etc. Lucina might find the idea of a Law world where there's no war (even if it's at the expense of some freedoms) somewhat appealing, at least more so than the constant war and destruction that she witnessed.

this is Good Shit all around but this is absolutely the standout part for me. when you look at fe narratives it's pretty easy to assume that ultimately all protagonists want more or less the same thing, but the mt morality prism is a fantastic way of filtering and diversifying their viewpoints and even creating a bit of tension (say, hector = chaos, lyn = neutral, eliwood = law. their banter was already a+ in fe7 but add a layer of philosophical debate and disagreement amongst them and that could be pretty damn fun)

sigurd and chrom both totally go chaos and it irritates their kids to no end
